For nearly 40 years, Family Central has played a pivotal role in the lives of South Florida families by strengthening the social, emotional and economic binds that family members have to one another, as well as to their community. Last year alone, Family Central's vital services touched more than 117,000 South Florida clients.
The following items would help benefit a child for the upcoming school year:
- Backpack
- Glue Sticks
- Crayons ( regular and large)
- Pens, pencils and erasers
- Wide ruled notebook paper
- Composition notebooks
- Rulers
- Scissors (for all ages)
- Markers &/or colored pencils
- Folders
Any type of donation is greatly appreciated. The following is suggestions of how you or your group might put together the school donations:
- Items may be donated all together in one box.
- Items may be sorted into individual bags which will be given to each child based on grade. (Bags may consist of a few or all of the items: two folders, a ream of paper, glue stick, crayons, colored pencils or markers, scissors, pens, pencils and a ruler.)
- Backpack filled with various items. (See below)
If you choose to donate backpacks filled with various items, below is a suggestion based on grade level. Please do not feel obligated to supply all items listed--these are just recommendations. We ask that you label the backpack with a sticker or tag/note identifying gender and possible grade based on contents placed in each backpack.
- k-2nd grade: folders, construction paper, pencil box, pencils, erasers, small scissors, glue stick, large crayons &/or large markers, composition notebook, ruler, smaller size backpack
- 3rd – 5th grade: folders, notebook, wide ruled notebook paper, index cards, pencil box, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, markers &/or colored pencils, scissors, ruler, small dictionary
- 6th – 12th grade: folders, notebook, notebook paper, spiral notebook, glue stick, pens, pencils, erasers, markers &/or colored pencils, dictionary, small pocket calculator, protractor, scissors, index cards, ruler
